Saint Mary’s has a vibrant children’s
choir ministry. Last year, in an effort to foster a stronger appreciation for the Divine Liturgy, Saint
Mary’s formed a Youth Choir. Comprised mainly of third grade students and older, the choir is a place
for children to grow in their faith through participation in the liturgical life of the church. It’s
also a time to have a little fun!
Our children learn liturgical hymns and receive most of their sacred music education as part of the Sunday
School curriculum. The Youth Choir now actively participates at various liturgical services during the
year, including: Lazarus Saturday, Palm Sunday, Pentecost and Christmas Eve Matins.
Most recently, the children sang at Christmas Even Matins and donated their
time and voices in a Christmas Caroling visit to a local nursing home after the Nativity. We hope to make
this an annual event!
Currently, we are learning hymns in preparation for Lazarus Saturday and Palm Sunday.
